The North Toronto Aquatic Club was founded in 1968, by a group of neighbourhood parents who recognized the potential for community use of the Glenview Senior Public School pool outside of school hours.
From a modest beginning of 85 swimmers and 2 days per week at Glenview, we now boast a membership of over 700 swimmers per year. Classes are held at the Glenview pool 5 days a week and at the Lawrence Park pool 2 days a week.
During the school year, learn to swim classes for ages 3 to adult are held during our regular 8 month session. We also offer a spring mini session for children in beginner levels. Lifesaving and Instructor courses are offered twice a year, starting in September and January.
Our volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of local parents dedicated to continuing and enhancing the long tradition of fine programming here at NTAC. They are supported by a part-time General Manager and an Aquatic Supervisor. Stephen, our Aquatic Supervisor, has been with NTAC for over 25 years. He is on deck during the Children’s Swim Classes and also teaches some of our Lifesaving & Instructor courses. Our Aquatic Staff consists of over 40 high school and university students, most of them having risen through the levels at NTAC.
